Easter

This Easter was a little different. My mother was out of town the week before and we were not sure if she would make it home for her traditional egg hunt on Sat, or for Sunday dinner. My Dad broke his foot the week before, so I got to help get him to various places, so we coordinated what needed to be done, just in case Mom didn't make it home. Anyway, Mom showed up Friday and was here for Easter festivities. She hurt her knee, so Saturday I came over early to help prepare for the egg hunt and do a little cleaning. The hunt was a success, the kids got lots of candy and got to spend time with cousins! Sunday we went to Sacrament with Lynn's parents then went to dinner at mom's and then to Blanch's for another egg hunt and more visiting with family! I tried to make those cute chick pops from Bakerella. (If you haven't checked her out you MUST! She's my idol!)They of course are not as cute as hers...maybe someday! The kids had Spring Break this weekend too, so we went to see Monsters VS Aliens and had our fun teen cousin spend the night with us. It was hard getting up on Tuesday to the regular schedule. I wish the weather was better, I need to do some serious yard work. Also Brayden, Emma and Alex are playing soccer this season and they have only had one practice and one game each. It is just too wet and cold. We will see if they get to play Saturday, they REALLY want to!

More holiday fun

I just have to add a little more about our holiday vacation. This is our family journal, so if it doesn't get here, it won't be anywhere.....
After Christmas we had many sleepovers with cousins. It is so fun to see them so excited to be together, but it is wearing. So thank you to those of you who put up with my kids a time or two and it was fun to have extras here to entertain us. We had a blast on New Years' Day at the farm sledding, riding the snowmobile and 4 wheeler. The husband was hunting, so I got to give rides to the kids and play with them. It was a lot of fun. The kids wore off all the snow on the little "hill" and I think they would have continued if it hadn't gotten dark. We had sloppy-joes and treats and hot cocoa and even had a bonfire of dead Christmas trees. We slept well that night. The next day we went to SLC to see my sisters and just be together. A few of us went to see Marley and Me. I thought the show was ok, just not a show for little kids. We thought it would be more about the dog and it was more about the family....We stopped at the Planetarium and I wish we had have spent all our time there, it is way cool! We drove home in a blizzard and got to bed at a more decent hour. On Saturday I had to help with the Annual Primary breakfast, so we were up early and got to eat breakfast with all our friends. It went really well. For those who may want to know, our Primary presidency changed, and I am now now the first counselor. I am SO glad I get to stay with the Primary! I love it! It was crazy on Sunday dealing with new people and new kids and new teachers, etc. I hope this Sunday is a little less crazy! The husband got home late on Sat and he got his cow elk. He cooked us up some and everyone enjoyed it very much! My Grandmother stayed with my mom for the holidays and it was so nice to see her. She is so cute making sure she got to hug each of the kids and say hello to them all. She is now 95 and she still remembers birthdays and activities, what an amazing lady! My older brother-the one that got married in July- called me on New Years Eve to wish us a Happy New Year and then told us that he and his wife are expecting! We are SO excited for them! We will have a bunch of new babies next year! What fun!
Now the kids are back to school and their activities! I was kinda sad to see them go, but kinda glad to have things back to the routine, and I have to admit I like a little alone time. Thanks for putting up with my randomness!

Well, we survived the holiday! I was so unprepared with my shopping this year, but it helped me focus on the other things, not just the gifts and shopping. We read a scripture each night about Jesus and got to know him a little better. We also focused on our traditions. Santa found us and left plenty of stuff. We seem to have been media and nerf focused this year. Everyone got a game and movie and the boys all got huge nerf guns.....there are darts all over and you just have to yell "don't shoot" each time you go into another room. On Christmas Eve we did the usual dinner with my family including the nativity re-enactment. Then we went with the Blanch's and had our dinner and gift exchange. It is so fun to see family and see the excitement shared with the kids and adults. On Christmas Day we went to the in-laws' home to eat and recount our morning. A blizzard blew in while we were there, so we didn't stay long and went straight home. We enjoyed hot cocoa and a movie and thought about getting things cleaned up. The next day we met with some family members at the local park for some sledding. We had a great time and added more hot cocoa and mom's homemade doughnuts to our menu. We did a little clean up and then went to Morgan to be with my extended family. That is always fun to see everyone and eat more food. We were told that my cousin is expecting and we couldn't be more excited for them. We brought my 14 yr old cousin home to hang with the kids and he stayed until today. I love that someone other than me likes my kids and wants to spend time with them! Buy the way, I left my camera home for most of the above events, so you just get a few with us on Christmas morning. Now onto some serious cleaning and welcoming a New Year!
